After The Music of Now! Festival 2026
This spring I worked with Nublu on the identity for The Music of Now!, a three-week festival running from late March into mid-April across the rooms on Avenue C. The lineup was the kind of bill that only Nublu puts together. Sun Ra Arkestra with Marshall Allen, SEXMOB, Henry Threadgill's Ensemble, Meshell Ndegeocello, Chez Damier, David Virelles, Jaleel Shaw, Dan Weiss with Miguel Zenón, Isaiah Collier playing Coltrane, and a long list of nightly sets weaving between jazz, electronic, experimental, and everything in the cracks between them.
The design was built as a system rather than a single mark. One logo to anchor the festival, and a poster series where every night gets its own composition while staying part of the same visual family. The brief was to hold the range of the lineup without flattening it, and to make a set of artifacts that work as event communication during the run and as collectibles after. Below is the full poster series and the artist assets that rolled out across the program. The story behind the festival logo itself is coming in a separate post.
